While your portions DO depend on many factors like physical activity and your specific goals, you can start by including some of these tips 👆👇
⁣
👉 Be mindful of your hunger/fullness cue. This is a BIG one. Be aware of how you are feeling before and while you are eating. Ask yourself a few questions that can help you honor your hunger cues before you eat such as, “How hungry am I?” While you are eating, pause in the middle and ask yourself “Am I satisfied?”. ⁣This can help you decrease how much you eat.
⁣
👉 Drinking 💦 at least 30 minutes before meals can give you a better idea of how hungry you truly are and may decrease your calorie intake.⁣

🤔 Understanding portion sizes is very important when it comes to your weight loss journey, chica. Why? Because portions sizes will vary from person to person.

This is what I do with my clients. I teach Latinas like yourself how to lose weight enjoying the foods they love with proper portion control.

I will never tell you what you can and can't eat when it comes to your favorite cultural foods. Instead, I'm here to help you put foods BACK into your diet with small adjustments.

The portions listed here include:
✅ Cooked white rice
✅ White baked potato (no butter)
✅ Black beans (canned)
✅ Grilled corn on a cob (no butter)

And as the week goes by and into the weekend, you start thinking about all the "bad" foods you told yourself you would not eat anymore, and before you know it, you're eating quesadillas, a slice or two of pizza, a burger with fries, platano frito, fried chicken, ice cream, and a few drinks.

Mira mujer, food is food. Yes, some are more nutritious, others not so much, but they are still good to enjoy because it brings comfort, memories, and culture. So, how about we stop demonizing food from "good" to "bad"?

So what's a girl to do if she wants to lose weight and feel confident in her skin? Eat 80% nutritious foods, 20% leave room for some of the FUN foods, and trust me, the process will be worth it because you'll not only be enjoying your weight loss process but having fun as well because you're not restarting every Monday. ⁣

Nothing wrong with setting weight loss goals for the summer but there’s definitely a wrong and right way to do it👇🏽

Wrong way:
❌Avoiding carbs
❌Doing insane detoxes that will only have you running to the bathroom
❌Doing fasted cardio that will probably make you pass out
❌1200 calories isn’t enough and eating that little can lead to slowed metabolism, hunger and food cravings.
❌Waist trainers that would suck the life out of you.

A better way:
✅Focus on adding food and by that I mean your cultural foods to your plate not subtracting (eg. Adding more foods with fiber🍐🥦🌽🍓🍑)
✅Exercise fueled for better results. (eg. coffee, banana, toast, or hard boiled)
✅Focus your time, money and energy on things that matter and will help you reach and maintain your goals not only during the summer but year round (work with a Dietitian, groceries, meal prepping or meal prep services, exercise outdoors or get gym membership, if possible etc)
